Globoco Asylum (an Asylum Challenge) COMPLETE

An Asylum Challenge... well, sort of.

Hi guys! I decided I wanted to try something new with the game, and after reading up about numerous game challenges, I settled upon the Asylum Challenge. I'm not going to be following the rules word for word, but I've attempted to stick to them as best as I could.

To sum it up, the Asylum Challenge is when you have eight Sims living together on one lot and you are only able to control one of them. Free Will speaks for the rest of the Sims on the lot. The aim of the challenge is to achieve the Lifetime Want of your controllable Sim, whilst keeping the rest of the Asylum patients happy.

Since this only lasts one generation I'm hoping I'll be able to get right the way through a challenge for once.

GLOBOCO ASYLUM CHALLENGE: PART ONE

Welcome earthlings, to the Asylum of Globoco.

I find that it's best if we have no mention at the peculiar name of the Asylum, seeing as
I have no idea why I gave it the game "Globoco".
It's not even a word.

Before I start, I am going to list the objects (except decorative items and so forth) that are existent
within the household. The Globoco Asylum started off with (it does change later):

One bath/shower, one toilet, one sink, one fridge, one stove, four counters, one table, one chair, one three seater sofa, one television, one violin, one bookshelf, one chess table, two chairs, one double bed, one single bed, and finally, one exercise bike.

There is also a train set I shouldn't mention as I'm technically cheating by using that.

A lot of minuses. Well that's a fantastic start.



Let me introduce you to the patients.

First up we have Benjamin Stanton, my controllable.

Aspiration: Fortune
Starsign: Libra

His LTW is to "Become A Criminal Mastermind".



Lila Patterson

Aspiration: Family

Next up is Austen Bryan, who as you can already see is addicted to playing Chess.

Derek Peters
(In case you were wondering, I have alien eyes set up in my game to act as additional defaults, meaning townies are spawned with alien eyes)

Millie Nillie
Don’t ask about the name.

Lindsey Barnet

Phoebe Robbins, a complete bundle of joy (sarcasm).

Finally we have Guillermo Tate
Who I will probably end up calling Gill because I can't
spell his name correctly all the time.

Starsign: Capricorn



He may be my controllable, but I certainly can't control what Benji wishes to discuss with Millie.



It begins to rain.

Lila and most of the other patients decides to head to the window and, like a true
nutjob, she acts as if rain is the end of the world.



Lindsey: May I give you a hug?

Derek: NO TOUCHING.



What is this, hang-out-in-the-corner-of-the-bedroom time?!?

Gill: I can see into the future, and I must tell you that we're
going to be in here for a very long time.



Benji: I'm beginning to feel as if I am stuck in a jail cell, Lindsey.
I want to get out!



Derek: LA LA LA
*splashes about*

I can now see I picked a perfect candidate for the Asylum.



Seeing as he's going to need a job in order to achieve his LTW, I get Benjamin to search
for that Criminal career.

Sadly it doesn't appear in that newspaper, so instead he opts for a job in the
Architecture career track to bring some money into the Asylum.

Austen: I HATE YOU
*glares*



Am I allowed to use this?!? I don't know... Mr Humble brought it.

For now I've put it in Benji's inventory, but it may make an appearance later.



Well, at least he's not going to be the first person to burn the kitchen down.



Surprise surprise, Derek is still outside splashing around after all of that rain...

Derek: LA LA LA
*splashes*

Phoebe: *stalks*



Phoebe: *heads outside to stalk Derek some more*

Gill: *gives Phoebe a taste of her own medicine*



Millie's one true hobby happens to be music, and as she plays the violin, Phoebe decides
to show how much she loves hates Millie's music...

By booing and hissing. Tsk.



Looks like Austen has found a friend in Lila.

Obviously they both like discussing kissing.



Benji: *stalks*



Benji: *happily stalks*

Someone seems to have caught the stalking bug.



Benji: Can I give you a hug?

Derek: I SAID NO TOUCHING.

Phoebe: *stalks*



Gill: Yes, I have been here for three Sim hours now.
And yes, I am still thinking of Phoebe.

Hehe, thanks for reading it guys - it's been such a long time since I attempted a story of some kind!

The Asylum Challenge is definitely an interesting one, but I'm quite a way through now and I can see that I have hardly stuck to the rules at all! At one point I just gave up following rules... you'll probably learn why in the next few updates and such.

There is a lot of stalking, and there are a lot of interesting characters in there... I think their crazy names make them a little crazy in their heads.

I will update soon for you guys, seeing as I said above I am quite a way through and I have some updates prepared. I may update later today, I'll see how the day goes

Glad to see someone else attempting this challenge.
It's fun yet frustrating too.

I attempted 4, and only ever completed 1 of them. The rest, the Sim I was controlling, either died from ghost scares or deliberate accidental death, trying to show off with a crepes suzette. (Man, I tell ya, those dishes are lethal!!)

Or, I simply gave up as it was far too hard for me (Romance Sim, wanted woohoo with 20 different Sims, got too old and ended up as a vampire, too much work after that).

I'll be keeping a close eye on your Asylum, checking in on their antics (and stalking habits).

You never know, it might inspire me to do yet another one.

Thanks for your comment, deliciousruby! I am in full agreement that the challenge is fun, yet frustrating. I don't want to give too much away so I'll just leave it at that.

I'm thankful that I rolled a decent aspiration and got a good lifetime want with Benjamin, it could have been a lot worse (like your Romance Sim, ouch, wouldn't want that one).

They do get up to quite a bit of stalking, I guess that's because there isn't much else they can do.


Anti: Thanks! Believe it or not I didn't really put a lot of thought into building the house, just made it big and made sure it didn't resemble a Big Brother house too much.

I actually had to change the layout and such a little bit later on as my patients got a bit grumpy, thus meaning they moaned a lot. I am breaking a rule there, but I couldn't stand it. Plus it's not like I'm giving myself points for my version of this challenge, just wanted a bit of fun.

The mood of the patients seems to have improved now (...ok, it hasn't, they are still grumpy and want me to pay attention to them all at the same time. I can only give that to Benji though!).


Katie: There isn't going to be an update today, it'll most probably be tomorrow now. I've had a Wii-day with my friends (which means my arms hurt from aggressive Boxing and Tennis) plus I really need to turn my computer off as it's turning my bedroom into a sauna.

I will update tomorrow. If I don't, then I give someone permission to spam & moan on this thread, and perhaps track me down and beat me up.

GLOBOCO ASYLUM CHALLENGE: PART TWO

Previously, on the Globoco Asylum Challenge:

The patients of the Asylum were introduced.
We met Benjamin, Phoebe, Derek, Gill, Millie, Lindsey, Austen & Lila.

It was established that Phoebe in particular likes to stalk, whilst Austen likes
to play Chess.

Other than that, it was a pretty boring first update.
So let's get started, shall we?



As well as stalking, Phoebe is an obsessive clean-freak. Observe.



Could you two get any further apart??!

(They were attempting to play with water balloons, but I'm not sure they would be able to
reach one another!)



Me: ...
Benji: So Phoebe... how are you at kissing?
Me: Do you really have to talk to her about that?

Wait a minute... looking into the bedroom... Gill seems to have left the bed!
Where is he?!



Zooming over a little, I find Gill in the kitchen.

Oh ho ho, methinks it might be time for the Asylum's first fire.

Be careful there, Gill. I'm watching.



Ok, perhaps it really will be the Asylum's first fire.

Is it really logical (when you are a Sim) to walk away from the oven whilst you've got
something cooking??



Derek saves the day, by stealing Gill's food.

How friendly.

And he doesn't actually eat it. Gill eats it.



Derek: YOOHOO, could I get to the stove please??
Me: There's no use complaining Derek, Millie was there before you.
Derek: BUT I'M REALLY HUNGRRYYYYY!
Me: And the Asylum is only allowed one stove.
Derek: *whines*
Me: Perhaps you should consider not getting hungry when the rest of the patients do.



Benji: So, Gill... I was wondering... do you want to be b-best friends?
Phoebe: *stalks in disguise of exercise*



Gill: (disregarding Benji's topic) I like movies.
Benji: ...



Derek embraces his inner tinkerer.
Is it me, or does that sound slightly wrong?

(Oh, and I've only just noticed... but one of those houses looks like the Simpsons house!)

Lindsey has a nightmare about Millie.
I'm not really sure why...?!

Derek, sweetie, I don't think the rest of the world needs to see you needing the toilet
when they look through the window.

There is a toilet just down the hallway.



The same goes for you guys, the bedroom is right behind you both.

Holy sh*t!!! I know that sims can be kinda anoying sometimes, but omg!!! They are REALLY insaine.

Well, I would have to say lucky for you and unluck for you, because you have pheobe. Lcuky cuss she's a neat freak. Which means no maid. Unlucky cuss she stalks poeple. And maybe lucky again because she seems very independent.

Simpson house. Really? Which one?

Oh, isn't it always true that sims have the worst commedic timing. Starting a fire when the man of the house is gone.....tsk....tsk.....

Love that a fire started just as Benji left... typical sims! lol. Hope there are some residents left when he returns!

Reading this is making me wanna have a go at one when I've got a little more spare time... Am enjoying it, keep it up!

Anti: Trust me... Sims can get worse. I have learnt this after playing my Asylum Challenge.

I've found that Phoebe has her moments when it comes to cleaning. Gill has a lot of points in Neatness too, so I'm often watching him go out to the trash can with a bag of rubbish. Or plates (since they don't like using the sink in the bathroom).

The Simpson's house is the little blue one with the red car parked in the right-hand driveway.


deliciousruby: I'm presuming you're talking about the fire which erupted just as soon as Benji left the house! It's a little funny thinking back to it now, but at the time I was scared that my Asylum Challenge was going to come to an abrupt halt!

I'm not letting on who survives (if any)!


Katie: Hey you could do your own Asylum Challenge once you've finished your legacy! It makes a nice change, let me tell you.

Although the constant whining does get annoying, and probably you'll give up with the rules like I did. ¬.¬

OMG!! I took you up on that offer, kate. And wow. Assylum challenges are fun, weird, and annoying all at the same time. I'm experiencing things that I haven't experienced in regular gameplay. I've never seen more aspiration failure. Wow.

When I get father along I might start posting pics and stuff. But, I"m not sure. ;D

That's what I've done with my challenge, I'm much further along in game than I am posting my updates. It's quite handy because it's way too hot here at the moment to be sitting inside playing and making my bedroom a sauna with my computer! So I've got enough leeway for a while when it comes to updating

I'd love to see your challenge though Anti! Especially who you started off with, it's good to see how the Sims evolve and what they do (when not under your control).

As for a Globoco update... I've been busy this weekend, but I may update again in the next few days...?

haha!! I played last night for another like 3-4 days sim times, and not one but 2 fires errupted. One was while my crontolable was at work, so they all had to wait screaming for her to come home (yes it's a girl) and the second time she was asleep. haha!!
I won't tell you who survived. All I'll say is 3 out of seen of the sims that were awake the first time caught on fire and burned don't 2 counters, the toaster, the microwave, and the oven......*sigh*

I've also noticed that I have deffinitely chosen favorites....

Ok, I'm ganna stop spamming your thread now and just get another couple days in then post mine already.....jeez....
