Wow! So it's coming out really soon! I am curious how here is gonna run out the day it's out to grab one off the shelf?? Looking at some videos of it i am getting more excited.. I like that we'll have a larger degree for diversity in making the sims and clothes and furniture than in the Sims 2. And also from looking at videos it looks like they are giving us a bunch of different building styles right off the bat... some styles I had to always download as CC. Despite my excitement I am a little sad. So much time and CC spent on Sims 2.. and I am still attached to them too much to totally abandon them for the new game. So while a part of me wants to run out the day it hits stores.. another part wants to wait a bit... How about the rest of you??

I'll probably get it sometime this year, most likely not when it comes out (though I really want to) but later on maybe a month after. We are short on money so that's the reason why.

I'm going to have to get a new computer first, I don't think my current one will be able to handle it. But again, there's the money aspect - am short of cash at the mo. Need to save up a bit first, so it'll probably be later in the year.
I am like you though Diz, I don't feel ready to abandon TS2.

I don't wanna stop playing the sims 2 yet either! There's still so many things I haven't done with it yet...
And I have the same problem as you Kate, my laptop would never run it so am gonna have to invest in a new computer.. but I just don't have the spare cash at the moment what with wanting to decorate the house since I moved in with my boyfriend.... So I guess am gonna have to wait a while!

Well........i'm in total agreement with everyone. The game looks amazing and just seems so exciting. I really REALLY want to get it, but there's that little problem.....money. Annoying......and i'm scared that i'll get it and somehow it'll consume both my time and my computer's processing power. LOL! I know i have a pretty snazzy machine, but i could just imagine the sims 3 being a huge power-hog and just completely wasting my computer. In the end, i'll probalby wait. Not because i want to but because i have too...... Damn money.

I'll get it if it gets along with Windows 7 a little bit better than TS2. Otherwise it won't be worth the stuffing around.

I probably will end up getting it, but as of now I have no real want to get it... Plus TS2 EP's will go down in cost while everyone's trying to get rid of them.

Umm....
I'm going to have to be in the minority here and say....
no, I won't be buying it. There are many reasons
First and foremost, even though the idea of changing body shape/height and moving around the neighbourhood sans loading screens seems appealing, I still don't like the look of the Sims themselves. They look ultra creepy.
Secondly, poor computer is huffing and puffing along as it is, without adding anything else to it.
Thirdly, I've spent so much time and effort with my beloved Sims 2 - collecting a modest downloads folder, building and playing families, writing my stories around them, spending an obscene amount of money on all the EP's and SP's. That I really really do not wish to let them go.
Fourthly, I'm still going through all the opitions you have in game, all the possibilities etc. (only just managed to get a Sim on vacation of all things).
Besides, I'm not prepared to shove my old toy up on the shelf in favour of the new one. I've grown accustomed to screaming and shouting and pulling my hair out with these Sims I've got. LOL
Sorry guys/gals, I'm a stubborn old bird here.

I've grown accustomed to screaming and shouting and pulling my hair out with these Sims I've got. LOL LOL. SOrry for laughing, it jsut stuck me as funny as i do the same thing. ESP when they wont pose how i want them to for a pic for a story, super frustrating. Well i am getting it. There is a reason i am not umming and arring. Its because my little brother got me a gift voucher for my birthday (earlier in the year) for EB games. So i put it towards getting sims 3. Mostly cause i am curious and i didn't want his money to go to waste. For now, i think i will try to continue to play sims 2, cause like you ruby i have a have spent time downloading, making sure its in folders, cleaning it out ever now and then. And have some really good CC. And of course when the sims 3 comes out there will be non of that. Will pee me off at first LOL (Downloadaholic here). Though, i may fall in love with it like i did sims 2...only the future me can answer that LOL

On the subject of CC, I am currently trying to give myself a crash course in TS2 CC, so that perhaps when TS3 comes around, I can at least have a crack at it, and maybe put out from CF-exclusive stuff if my stuff is any good. If it's all crap, I'll just put it on MTS2 or something, but any good stuff will go here.

I have a friend who manages the local EB Games. He 'accidentally' gave me my pre-ordered copy early. Is it freakin awesome.
