Hey all, bare with me as this may get long winded and may become annoying to read. I am wondering if i am missing something or just not getting it?! I feel like a blonde (opps I am LOL)
Ok what I am wondering is if its possible to add a community lot, more looking at say the Pictures Lot, for sims that want to become famous celebrity movie stars, to suburb places like Twin Brook.
I have tried a number of times to place a copy and there is NO space for it?! But if i wanted to place a house or a block of flats there is space. Along with placing the pictures lot so i can open up more career opportunities I also CAN'T place any bars/etc.
Basically am i missing something?? Is it one of those fun little things that EA decided would be fun to add in to drive us crazy? If its the later do you know of a hack etc thats out there. If its the former, please tell me what I am doing wrong!!!

Yeah I had this trouble too. I finally realized the problem...the film studio is HUGE! 64x64 to be exact. None of the free lots that come already in the towns are that large, the most is 60x60 I have found. If you have ambitions it came with the ability to add in blank lots. You will have to find an area to place down the largest (64x64) lot somewhere in your town so you can place the film studio on it. I ended up placing mine off the road because there simply was nowhere near the road that size lot would fit. I only found out after wards there was a place I could have placed it, but too late now. If you are using Sunnyville i have found you can place it up on the hill where to two large houses are and then one blank spot. You have to delete the blank spot and replace it with the 64x64 plot of land first though. I have not Looked around the other towns to know off hand a space where it can fit. It really sucks because most lots from LN are HUGE and don't easily fit into the other towns. Oh i almost forgot. When you place down the blank lot you need to designate it as a community lot and I believe one that "allows visitors." And one more kinda cool/interesting thing about the film studio. There are three designs for the back lot. The main part with the dummy buildings is always the same, but on one wall of the studio there are three different film sets it can be. The old west, alien/space theme or one with broken castles. It shows up randomly between the three when you place it. There is no difference in what each do, just a bit of visual fun. So you can see which you like just place one to see if you like it, if not delete it and place another to see the other designs. Now for bars I just made my own on blank land so I have not seen what size lots the prepackaged ones are, but my guess is the lots they are built on are larger than the free lots you have in your town. Also with the clubs there are a few different kinds so when you make the lot a community lot you also have to specify if it's a dive bar, sports bar, fusion lounge, dance club, etc... In total there are like 6 different kinds that you need and with each kind there are different benefits. Different drinks, they will each draw different customers and being seen in different ones will also have different effects to Celebrity sims. When adding them to other towns you really need to add at least one of each kind in order to get the full benefits of them. If you go the route of building your own *takes breath and starts in* in addition to setting the lot type you need to place the one of the two pro types of bars from the party section in the buy objects mod. Also if you want sims to form their own bands and have real gigs you need to put all the needed instruments in each club. There are also wall speakers that will just play general music when there is no live music. Those are in the building section and in town object>misc. section. Once you have placed them on the wall and are still in Edit Town (and have testingcheatsenabled on) you need to shift+click on the speaker to set the type of music. Setting one speaker on the lot will make all speakers on that lot play the same kind of music so you only need to do it once. If you do not set it while building the lot the speakers are set to classical music by default no matter the club type... hehe Found this out when i first had my sim go to the dive bar I had made and it was playing classical music.. the sims really don't act differently depending on the music it's just funny to see them busting a move to classical music in a dance club. If you are wanting to make an exclusive club.. for those higher ranked celebrities you need to play the ropes at the door. Those too are found int he building section>town objects>misc. There is one for single door and one for double doors. When you place those it will auto fill in the bouncer. You also have to set the rope limits.. like who can get in and all that. Again with the testingcheats enabled shift+click on the rope and you will get the option of limiting who gets in, or if everyone gets in. What occults are allowed in (vampires, mummies or bots), what the bribe amount is and what level star is allowed in. If you don't set any of these things all sims no matter their station with just walk in. Which is fine... ya know drinks and dance for the masses, but it wont help fulfill the wishes of stars and others to bribe to get in and to get into V.I.P. areas and things like that. *breaths again* Long answer is long. Okay I hope this all helps... even though i have said way more than you asked for.

Thank you! Really big it is!! Spent ages searching houses etc for that size lot..bleh! But ahhh another really dumb question, how the hell is this possible... If you have ambitions it came with the ability to add in blank lots. You will have to find an area to place down the largest (64x64) lot somewhere in your town so you can place the film studio on it. I have ambitions, but for the life of me cant find the 'blank' lots. Sorry I am having a mega blonde moment and feel silly for asking, but better to ask and look silly than to not know right. EDIT: Ignore all that. I did some google'ing (thanks google) and found some info on it and found i need to use world editor. (yes we all know i am blonde) LOL Thanks AGAIN Diz! I owe you!

No worries! I had the same problem. I had large areas open on my map and would go to place the film studio and those places would not light up. I would try other lots and they would light up. It took me a bit to finally realize it was too big. And sorry i forgot to mention the world editor button in my last post. Glad I could help
