oh, so you know how i was complaining about how the different speeds were not working correctly. I was right! I downloaded that patch, and now it works much better. So happy. PLus i did give my simmies all new beds with like the max amount of +energy i could get and everything goes a lot faster. Yay!
Kate I know how you feel, twice now my sims have gotten pregnant then had a kid then got pregnant again and the two kids were so close in age that they might as well have been twins. And with the different life spans, most of the time the stages overlap each other to an extreme. (one kid is now a day behind the other in life stages. O.o Two seperate briths!!)

I think I found a glitch... which is slightly annoying.
I was looking at my Selfie and Luke's kids the other day, and noticed that they are Luke's half-children!! I was totally confused as my Selfie hasn't crept away at any point to have children with another man. Even though they are Luke's children, they haven't registered as his, leaving Alex to be his only child at the moment.
Confusing stuff, I wish I could fix them (and I just typed 'fish them' then... hehehe I'm not sure they'd like to be caught with a fishing rod).

I looked up this forum specifically to find a place to say this about the Sims 3. I HATE this game. If something hadn't gone wonky so that I can't get my custom content to show up in Sims 2, I would uninstall this stupid scavenger hunt game and reinstall my beloved Sims 2. To be fair, here's what I like about Sims 3 1. I do like the seamless neighborhood 2. I like the quicker loading times 3. I like the variations in the lifetimes happiness, though I don't like the randomness of it 4. I love the way you can customize patterns and colors for hair and makeup. Here's what I hate: 1. I HATE that you can't create lots. You have to use their houses. What's the point of having housing tools? 2. I HATE that you don't have neighborhoods from which to choose, you have to stick with their two neighborhoods and the stupid lot placements they have created. 3. I HATE the million families they have in the family bin. You can't delete them; they just take up room. Why create the elaborate sim creation tools if your neighborhood is populated with their people? 4. I HATE how hard it is to move people from home to home. And I will put a curse on whomever created that stupid clipboard! 5. I HATE the few choices in objects. No one seems to be creating any ones on Mod the Sims. that goes for hair as well. 6. I HATE the fact that people are so unhappy about their deaths. I really liked the suitcases and hula girls. 7. I HATE the fact that my sims seems stupider than in sims 2. I has already been mentioned that they will cook and not eat when they are starving. They will also stand by the bed forever just looking at it when they should be sleeping.' 8. I HATE the fact that I can't do anything with them without sending them on some stupid wild goose chase all over town to deliver food or fish or take a tour. YAAAAAAAA!!! My sims are so busy taking guitar lessens or fishing for bait that they don't have time to get married and have children. Nor do they have time to better themselves at work. They end up retiring at 1st or 2nd level jobs. 9. I HATE that they are young for just a few days but old FOREVER. I thought they should live longer than they did in Sims 2, but come one, die already! 10. I HATE that you just send them down to get whatever job they want. I liked the newspaper/computer method. Not every business is hiring every day, come on! 11.

Oops! My cat hit my hand and made me post before I was done ranting. 11. I HATE that I can't leave my families alone for a little while. When I come back people are always missing. Have they moved? Did they die? Who knows, they are just gone.
Okay, I feel better. Now, if anyone knows anyway to get my custom content back in Sims 2 (I've tried everything on Mod the Sims2, but no dice), please post a solution, I will be most grateful, as I am ready to give up the stupid Sims 3, but not my simmies. Thank you,.

O.O WOW.. that is some list. I have a question though on your comment about coming to this site specifically to rant about TS3.. why us and why weren't you able to on other sites? Not that there is anything wrong with ranting it just seems a little odd to me to sign up to a place just to rant about the game.
Also, may I ask how long you have been playing TS3... like estimate on hours and such. Again just curious.
As for your #1 hate about not being able to create lots.. that is true and does suck (and maybe in future updates we will be compensated for that) ...but you don't have to use their houses. You can go into edit town and build your own on empty lots.
#3.. Families in the bin are not in the hood unless you place them in it, so not getting the complaint there. If you want to get rid of some of the townies just evict them from their house and don't place them any where and you can place your own families down.
#4.. I have not experienced any trouble moving people from lot to lot so can't help you there. What part is the hard part? maybe it'd help explain better.
#5.. lack of custom objects and hair does suck, but the system for TS3 is a LOT more complex than in previous games. It's only been out for about a month... give the creators time. I am sure EAxis has added in a lot more things creators have to break through to be able to rip the base parts out of the game in order to mod them.
#7.. despite me complaining about the Sims making food and then just setting it down.. TS3 Sims seem a WHOLE lot smarter to me. I can leave the others at home for hours while I play one Sim off in town and i don't have to worry about the ones left behind dying. If the Sim is hungry enough they will eat the food right away. One really smart thing i have noticed in TS3 that I liked (and bugged me in TS2 that it wasn't this way) ... after having a Sim sleep in a bed a min of two times they will then always go back to that bed when they go to sleep.. kinda cool.
#8.. the opportunities are your choice to play.. you don't have to and i rarely do just cause i don't want to. But if you read you don't get anything negative happen if you don't complete a task.
#9.. there is an option to extend the Sims life and you can change it at any time. If you want to play them while they are young adults longer lengthen the life span and when you are ready to started them aging more quickly shorten it again. Also there are the options to pretty much grow any one up at any time so you can leave the life span on super long and just choose when kids and that grow up. The TS2 life span seemed really short to me, so being able to change it in TS3 was a bonus I thought.
#10.. not all jobs have an actual building in town. And you can still use the paper and computer to get the jobs.. nothing says you HAVE to send them to the place. I for one like that you can send them to the place for the job... sure not every where is hiring every day.. but this is a game. I have waited half a Sim like before in TS2 waiting for the LTW career job to come up in the paper or computer... only to then have something happen to my game.. it not save that they got the job and then have to wait the rest of their life before it ever came up again.
#11.. when you mean leave them alone for a while.. is that while they are still the active family you take another member down town and then come home and the rest of the family is missing? Or that you switch the active family and when you come back the other family is gone? If it's the later and you have the story progression on then they will lead their own lives.. and grow with whatever family is active.. so they every well may have moved or died.
You have to remember while the game has the same name and is a Sims game.. they tried to make it a NEW game with elements from previous Sims games. So there are going to be a lot of differences and it is not going to be just a copy of Sims 2.
The reason i first asked why you said you had to join this site just to rant about the game is because if you'd looked more on the site you would have seen that most of us have TS3 and are totally loving it and are hook. There is nothing wrong with voicing your thoughts just that you had to specifically come here for it o.O
As for the TS2 cc .. if you have tried all they say on MTS and it's not worked i donno what else to suggest. They have a lot of things to do on their list of what to do in that situation and they pretty much have it all there. Nothing else to try other than there extensive guide on getting CC to show up.

Oops, sorry to imply that I chose this site for any reason. I just never belonged to a sims community, so I didn't have a designated place where I am established. So, in order to post I had to join, and I joined specifically to respond to that question. I wasn't picking on anyone; just putting my two cents in. Thank you for your suggestions; I appreciate your taking the time to answer me and offer me help. I think, though, that I will simply go back to playing the game that I enjoy and not fool with Sims 3 anymore. I just truly dislike it. Thanks again for getting back to me. Smorbie

ahh okay I gotcha I thought at first you were saying that other sites weren't letting you post your objections to the game. Well welcome to the site and i hope you post more Am sorry to hear that the new game is not fun for you... i still play sims 2 also. I haven't lately (because I haven't unpacked the disc from moving yet and TS3 was already int he computer)... but I still like TS2. It's hard to just walk away from something been playing for so many years and that has all these cool add ons for.

This is not really a thought, but I can't quite justify a new thread for what I'm about to say. So I'm trying to fit it in here...so just humour me The past couple of times I've played, I noticed that my game was really lagging, and I mean really lagging. It was fine before I had my, what I like to call, "Sims break". I had very little custom content. Then a few weeks ago, I went on a blitz and downloaded a lot of new stuff. That's when I started to notice the lag. Last week I went through my Mods folder and ran all of the files through the Compressorizer to see if that made any difference. I also deleted a lot, I can be quite vicious when I need to get rid of lag. However, to my dismay, the lagging got worse. Today I found out that people have been having a lot of problems with the Compressorizer and TS3. Compressing the files can sometimes cause problems. I should have anticipated this and made back-ups of my files before compressing them. But no, I'm dumb, so I didn't. Now I'm having to go through my Mods folder and replace all of the files...not fun. *sigh* Silly Kate.

This seems more like a rant than a "need help" comment. Unless I got the wrong impression. I think I got the wrong impression.I'm not really sure about custom content with the sims 3. I ended up downloading a bunch of stuff and moving it to a downloads folder manualy, then I found out there was a mod that I had to download. Which I did that, but then it didn't seem to work properly. Soooooo....haven't played since.

^ I guess my last post was more of a rant, so you're right. Sadly we don't have a 'Rants' thread though, so I thought I'd combine the both of them ;D
TS3 custom content installing is easy once you get the hang of it! A little confusing at first. I have previous knowledge of downloading now, so this time my 'Mods' folder (the new TS3 take on the 'Downloads' folder) is as tidy as tidy can be!
Here, my friends in real life would just make a sarcastic comment about how neat I am, and then walk away from me fast...
