So we have all had the game for a bit now and gotten a chance to play. Even if not a played all the features, I'm sure that we all have things about the game that we like, dislike, are impressed to see, or are disappointed to not see. So here is the thread to let it all out. ;D I'll start I have mixed feelings about the sim edit options. It may seem like there are more because we can adjust the body fatness and that, but when it gets into the face edits there are less than in TS2 o.O So many sims look alike, there are no real extremes and I just feel like I have less control than in the last game. And I am annoyed that there is nothing like a body shop. That to make sims you have to start a new town game (<<-- if I am wrong about this part please tell me how you can just make sims with out having to start a new game). Also annoyed that you can't just make your own town, that you can't just put down a plot of land and just build. (or if there is please tell me cause I have yet to figure it out.) I like to build and am missing being able to just build. Along the lines of building I am a bit upset that there are no half walls I used those quite a bit and they were base game the last time around. I also don't like that half the business you can't go in. and that you can't make community places. I enjoyed creating stores and parks and things like that for my sims to go to. I don't like that it's only one family per game. That you can't make other people to populate the town. I realize because the sims can now roam the whole town that it wouldn't be possible to have more than one family and still have the freedom, but it still bugs me. I liked making other families that would then interact with the active family. Something else I am totally annoyed with is the lack of hairs! And the styles they have are so similar.. and most look so ugly to begin with There were better styles and variety in the sims 2. The clothes seem better to start off on this game, but there are not that many. I also feel there are not an many objects as there were in TS2 off the base game. I realize they are mostly customizable, but it's not enough for me..... changing a pattern does not change the form of it. What really sucks is now after just a week of playing I am already wanting an EP just to get some more things into the game. Obvious things I like are the personalities... it really brings the sims to life in a unique way and that is a really cool feature. But I am missing that there is nothing like turn ons and offs from TS2. There is no basis for liking another sim and trying to find a mate for the single sim I have made is horrible and think she will end up living a lonely life forever. There are more, but I have forgotten them now (and I have to dash off to work) Please all.. share your thoughts on the game

LOL Dizzy I just created a thread not long after you created yours on this exact topic! I deleted mine quickly seeing as you were the first to post In regards to the sim edit bars... I have mixed feelings towards them. Some of the ways in which we can customise sims in this game are a bit lacking; as you said TS2 did seem to have the ability to customise a bit better. I would have loved to have been able to adjust the height of a sim as well as their weight in TS3 though. The option to create crazy coloured hairstyles is quite fun. I am too annoyed that we aren't able to create lots outside the pre-existing stuff which EAxis has already given us. It actually took me a long time how to figure out to build a lot, and I'm still not even sure I've done it right! I won't be surprised to find it not there the next time I load the game... I got so confused I closed the game in a huff Despite the above however, I absolutely adore the new neighbourhood; I think the ability to be able to walk/ride a bike/drive a car/hop in a taxi around town without a slow loading time is really neat! The community aspect of TS3 is really fresh and exciting for those of whom were bored of TS2 (*raises hand*). I also like how the 'skillz' side of things has been taken to another level in TS3: there are now achievements simmies can obtain relating to their skills! My self-sim is enjoying working through all the 'Writing' goals The new free will is awesome. Like the EAxis guys said in a couple of videos/transcripts (I can't remember), simmies can now look after themselves! I can finally leave my game on play whilst I go off to other things, and when I come back my simmies won't be dead or anything Something I have noticed however: Babies are much harder to look after in TS3! I'm thankful that we finally are able to see their mood bars without using cheats. But, on the other hand, their mood bars seem to decrease VERY rapidly! Especially their social bar, I was quite shocked as I noticed that my first TS3 baby was crying because it hadn't been snuggled or played with very often. I guess that's a few of my thoughts aside for now!

To make new sims without starting a new game, hit the menu button, edit town, then change active household, create sims.
I personally find that taking care of babys is easier in TS3, as if you get into trouble, you can always let freewill take over, and more often than not, they will fix things for themselves.
After spending quite a while trying to make Manda last night, and not being able to recreate her nose to save my life, I must say I am not exactly on speaking terms with the CAS sliders.
I completely agree with Desi on the 'customisation'. After all the whoop-lah EAXIS made about it, it's really quite a let down.
On another note, I will soon have both Manda and I ready for upload in individual and engaged form...

Oh, something I forgot to mention, Grimmy is much creepier in TS3, with his evil maniacle laugh and such. (Yes that is Nick Alto, my evil family made enemies with him and his wife on their own. Kate Pistachio (the live-in housekeeper) has married the Alto daughter, and now Nick's wife is alone with her infant son. Way to deal with nemeses guys!) EDIT Rick & Delphy have hacked the sliders, so you can over, or under slide them. I haven't tried it yet, but here's the link at MTS www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=344369

Yesh i too would have liked to have been able to adjust the height as well, Kate. I for some reason thought I had seen that in one of the demo things loong time ago.. but it could have been wishful thinking. Don't get me wrong I like the new town too... I just wish there could be other sims around too.. maybe sims 4 And thank goodness free will can actually have the sims actually take car of themselves, but I bet they had to do that because if there is more than one person in the house and you have the other run aorund town.... the ones left at home need to be able to take care of them selves. I also meant to mention that for me it seems babies are harder to take care off. They are very socially needy... actually all kids too I noticed their social meters dropped faster than the adult ones (the social meter is why my first kids were taken away *grumbles*). To make new sims without starting a new game, hit the menu button, edit town, then change active household, create sims. But wont that take out the sims already being played in that game? But what I was wanting is like body shop where you could just go and make sims to yer hearts content... and not even have to hassle with the town or any of that.

I haven't had a chance to play as much, but from what i have played i to have complaints and still get the 'OH cool' moments. (hopefully will soon, only one more asign left! woot)
Though i haven't seen any yet, the whole we can talk to the ghosts thing. I think it was kind of neat. I loved been able to pick my sims personality, and i just love the way the preg bellies 'grow' rather then just pop. (that goes for the labor pains to LOL) And the odd expressions here and there, like Dizzy's sim when she was cooking LOL so cute. And like the others i LOVE that i can visit neighbors and that its (as goose said) one massive lot. I dont like not been able to go into the restaurant or grocery store with my sim. It would really suck to try and write a story and not be able to take pics in these places. And its been mentioned, but i dont like that their isnt a body shop. Dont get me wrong its really cool that we can 'change their shape' but other then changing their hair colour etc, they all seem to look the same. with ts2 we could have a million different sims that all looked different. I am like you Dizzy, i am sitting here wanting an ep so the things i am hating atm will possibly get changed.

Desi, it doesn't take them out, just loses their short-term wants.

Just another little something which annoys me, and it could be me, but moving households between lots seems A LOT harder now!
Yesterday I freaked out a little bit because I moved my self-sim and Luke out of their original house and into a new one: but when I next went to load them, I couldn't find them!! They weren't showing up on the main menu so I thought I'd lost them forever - but it turns out I was just being stupid, I did get them back.
However each day I discover new things, which is a lovely experience. I think this will still be the case over the next couple of weeks of game play, I feel like there is loads to discover in TS3!

So something I forgot to mention that bugs me to no end... when you tell a sim to "Have breakfast (or any meal)" and they fix it and then just sit it on the counter Have the meal means EAT it! I will a lot of times like in the mornings or at night set up a bunch of things in a row for the sim to do and I keep forgetting that after i tell the sim to HAVE food I have to wait till they cook it to then tell them to eat it. Had a few that near staved because after setting them to have lunch they never ate it and then went on to other things... and I donno.. maybe it's just my game, but free will is not kicking in that much and I have it all the way up o.O But tonight as I was playing I was watching the sun raise and set and that is really cool looking. I had to take pictures

LOADING TIMES!!!!!!
I feel like crying every time......they're so beautiful. I believe i had a ten minute load time for TS2, and now i have a 2 minute load time for the sims 3. I'm so happy! So far I'm really happy with the sims 3. Yesterday i was smart enough to remember to adjust the screen size so now my graphics look amazing (i can be so smart sometimes). One thing I don't like is waiting for my sims to sleep. In the TS2 sleeping was really pretty fast, but now i have to like wait out every hour for my sims. I guess it' something about game performance, it might speed up with better graphics or something.

if you buy better beds they sleep faster... and there is now the ULTRA fast forward button.

Hm. I'll look into that. I know that the Ultra fast and super fast buttons work about the same in my game.....

well the ultra speed through is just for the current action.. so which ever sim you are clicked on it will revert back once they are done with what ever action they are doing. *cough* you could cheat and slide the energy bar closer to full

Might be me, but gosh, toddlers drive me up the twist now!! I've got three little ones running around my selfie's family at the moment and I can't seem to keep up! No sooner have I put one to bed when the other two want to get up, and Sim!Kate's energy bar has hit rock bottom on numerous occasions! I wish TS3 had the 'maxMotives' cheat

um kate *cough* there IS!
in the cheat bar you type 'testingcheatsenabled true' then you shift click on the mail box and hit Make All Happy. Or after you have enabled the testing cheats you can simply slide any status bar full or decrease it.. what ever. Which is nice when say you just want them to not be sleepy, but still all the other things, etc...
You do have to enable testing cheats each time you start up the game though, but it sure helps things along when you are in a pinch.

but make sure the game isn't on pause when you type in the cheat or it doesn't work.

Heh you can tell I haven't explored the use of old boolProp - actually, so we don't type 'boolProp' anymore? Thanks Dizzy Any little helps! YAY perhaps now I'll be able to survive raising the troublesome toddlers!

I was getting sorely frustrated not being able to use maxmotives when I was in a desperate situation, so I went looking up cheats for sims 3. I had already by testing found that motherlode and kaching worked, but maxmotives did not... made me sad. And so far the cheats I have seen have not had boolProp in them. I actually like it this way better. In sims 2 I have wanted the ability to just max out one motive and not have to do them all for every one.
