“Aww, a tie?” Charming complained as Violet pulled two ties from the closet.
“Yes,” She rolled her eyes, “We’re going to a nice restaurant tonight.” She felt like she had married a 4 year old.
“But….a
tie. It’s my birthday anyways so-”He stopped, fearing Violets glare.
“-You’re wearing a tie.” She gritted her teeth and threw the maroon tie at Charming.
“What if-“
“-no.” She went into the closet sliding around hangers deciding what to wear. Charming buttoned his black undershirt and sighed, “I don’t know why you even invited my parents and,
Ned”
“Who said I did?” Violet stepped out from the closet wearing a red/purple dress and checked herself at the mirror. “Vivian invited herself, and then Ned and Edward did too.”
“Ah. How like them,” Charming wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. “I’m sorry you had to get mixed up in all this.”
“In what?” She flipped her hair to the sides.
“Me! My ‘family’.” He sat down on the edge of the double bed.
“It’s just a package deal, get a Charming prince and get a dysfunctional family.” She joined him.
“You
really think I’m charming?”
“That is your name isn’t it?” She rubbed his back sympathetically.
“Actually…it isn’t. My parents couldn’t be official royalty if I didn’t have a different name. So they renamed me to Charming.”
“What’s your real name then?” She turned to his face as he sighed deeply.
“It’s…….” he mumbled something not understandable.
“What?”
“CHARLES! I hate it so much,” he stared at his shoes to see bare toes in front of him.
“C’mon lets get this over with so you can receive
my gift.” She kissed his cheek and slid into the bathroom.

Charming sighed and felt a soft, gentle hand grasp his. Violet smiled softly at her husband, “Don’t worry I’m sure they’ve already forgotten about it.”
“I know but,” Charming paused, “I haven’t, you haven’t, and my father hasn’t. I know he’ll never stop reminding me about 2 years ago.”
Violet wrapped her arms around Charming’s neck as he hugged her perfect waist, or at least perfect to him.
“You ready?” She whispered.
“Yeah, I guess.” He let go and still held onto her hand, which made him feel safer.
“CHARMING!” Vivian smooched her son on the cheek leaving a lipstick mark. Obviously she was drunk.
“Hi mom.” He shoved her to her seat.
“Jesus Charming we’re starving!” Edward dug in his well trimmed brow.
“Yes, hi dad.” Charming sighed as Violet squeezed his hand.
“You’re so rude Charming.” Ned sipped his drink.
“…..Ned.” Charming managed to push out without punching in Ned’s face.
