(here you go Tami..bribe paid for LOL)
Chapter two“I wish I was Dakota” I said as I put the leash back on my dog. Cola just looked at me and let her tongue loll out of her mouth. I smiled at my dog and patted her head before I stood up.
“Why, what’s wrong with being you Indiana?” uncle Saxson asked me as he came to stand next to me. He was with my body guard for today.
I sighed “Because Dakota is cool and she loves the lime light. She is never afraid of the paparazzi, she doesn’t care if they spread bad gossip, she never cared that mum and aunt Ruby were famous and because of that they followed our lives to. It is just so embarrassing uncle Sax. You can’t do anything without them taking a picture of you. I am even scared to have my first kiss in case they are there watching me. Austin and Dallas are more like Dakota. They don’t care. They just ignore them. I wish I could too. I love going out with mum and aunt Ruby but then it is even worse. It makes me feel awkward and like I have two heads! But I couldn’t dare tell either of them. I don’t want them feeling hurt because of me. And it’s not only the paparazzi that cause a fuss; it’s the kids at school too. Dallas is part of the cool group because we have a famous family. I even feel jealous of him. They tried to befriend me too when I first started, because someone made a big deal about me being Jade’s daughter so I ignored them. I don’t want people liking me because of who my mum is. I wanted them to see me, I still do. Now they just call me the nerd, book worm or even freak. I don’t have many friends and the people who want to hang with me are about as fake as their poor tans. I wish I had a different last name. Maybe then it wouldn’t be so bad” I ended with a sigh.
My uncle let out a little laugh “I thought it was kind of cool been married to a famous person, after all I had a one in 88,000 chance of dating a supermodel, but I can understand how it feels to be followed” he answered.
“But you got to chose to be married to aunt Ruby, I didn’t get a choice” I replied with a sigh.
“Sorry kido, I didn’t mean to laugh at you” Saxson replied apologetically.
“Its ok uncle Sax” I replied “So tell me, what have you brought my cousin for his birthday next week?”
Saxson beamed at me at the mention of his son Jessie who was turning 8, letting me change the subject he went on to tell me about the present he and Ruby had got for his son as we walked home, stopping every so often so Cola could have a sniff at some alluring scent.
It didn’t take us long to get home and the moment the door opened there was a yell from inside. “Daddy!” came a little voice, a flurry of hair and legs a little body was threw itself at Saxson’s legs.
“Hello precious” Saxson said, picking up his 3 year old.
“Why didn’t you take me with you” Kloe pouted.
“Because you were still asleep baby” Saxson said soothing his daughter.
“Oh” she giggled.
I smiled at my cousin and uncle and left them to it. I wanted to find my own parents to ask them question I had decided to ask again in the park. I wanted to know if I had their permission or not.
I found dad in the study. This was the second house I had lived in since been born. There just wasn’t enough room for everyone in the old one and besides Dad wanted an office at home, so he could do work when it was necessary. He liked being at home as much as he could. He was lucky enough to be able to own his own business so he was able to say what was allowed and what wasn’t. So of course no one questioned him when he worked more from home then he did from the office.
Dad was on the phone when I stuck my head through the door. He looked up and smiled at me, putting up his hand indicating he would be a few more minutes. I gave him a nod and went over to his computer to check my email while I waited
“Sorry baby” he said hanging up the phone a few minutes later “is there something I can do for you?”
“Do you know where Mum is?” I asked him.
“Umm” he said looking thoughtful “last I saw her she was in the library. Want me to go find her?”
“No it’s ok, I will get her. I have to ask you both something and I think it will be easier to ask you both at the same time”
“Sounds serious Indi” he said smiling
“It is to me Dad” I replied not smiling back. “Can I bring mum back here now and speak to you both now, or are you too busy?” I questioned.
“Your mum and I are never to busy if any of our children want us Indi” he replied his smile turning serious.
“Thanks Dad” I said smiling now “I will be back with mum”
I found mum where dad said she would be. I swear my parents were crazy. They act like teenagers when they are together, each knowing where the other was at anytime of the day. As crazy as it is, it was also really cool, not that I would ever admit it to them. I just hoped I could find a love like theirs one day. Mum and Dad started out as childhood friends. They fell in love with each other when they were teens. Mum fell pregnant with the twins, Austin and Dakota, when she was a teenager. Dad never knew about them, it was a massive misunderstanding. Dad moved away from mum when she first found out about them, though he didn’t know and they lost contact for the longest time. When the twins were 6 or 7, I could never remember, they found each other again. It was something that came out of a romance novel, though I never tired of hearing the story.
At one stage there, dad thought he would never see her again, as aunt Ruby’s old bodyguard, Kris, kidnapped my mum. It was after she was found, they found out about me. I was born on their wedding day. I loved sharing my birthday with them, and would never forget how long they had been married, since what ever age I would turn would be the same amount of years they would have been married for. A few years after I was born, mum fell pregnant with Dallas.
Dallas and I are still in high school. Where as Dakota followed in mum’s footsteps and is now a movie star. It seemed almost inevitable; she was always outgoing and beautiful. In a way I envied her. Austin was training for the Olympics in track and field. He comes home as much as he can.
“Hey baby girl” mum said looking up from the script that was in her hands, it was for her next movie.
“Hey mum” I said pulling myself from my memories I flopped down next to her on the couch “are you busy?”
“Not if one of my children needs me” she replied in similar words my dad used.
“Umm…would it be ok if I talk to both you and Dad. I umm…need to ask you something”.
“What is it Indi honey?” mum questioned, concerned.
“Nothing bad. But umm…I kind of want to ask you together instead of repeating myself if that’s ok” I asked nervously.
“Sure baby” mum said getting off the couch, she deposited the script in the chair she just left “lead the way” she smiled.
A minute later we were back in the office. Dad was watching the door as we came back through. He gave me a wink before he watched my mum make herself comfy on the couch with his love and devotion obvious in his eyes. I sat down next to her.
“So what did you want to talk to us about baby” mum asked after she gave dad a smile.
I looked at them both, now watching me, my heart started to race, I all of a sudden became nervous and tongue tied.
“Are you pregnant?” Dad asked me seriously “it’s ok if you are Indi, you can tell us” he tried to encourage.
“Oh Dad!” I exclaimed “I haven’t even kissed a boy yet”
“My bad” he said in a way of an apology “So what is it bub? We promise not to bite all that hard”.
“Ummm….well....” I said taking a deep breath “do you remember a few years ago when I asked if I could go to Australia to visit everyone? Well I still want to go so I am asking you again? I can help Aunt Simone with Hope and Freya, she is due to have her baby any day now” I said in a rush, hopeful they would say yes.
“Well, Indi, This is something your mum and I will have to talk about” Dad said hedging.
“I wont be any trouble to anyone” I said pleadingly “If aunt Simone doesn’t want any help I can go stay with Nanna or Pop….or even Grandma or Grandpa… or if not them uncle Keegan or aunty Sarah. I promise I won’t be any trouble, and I only want to go for a little while”.
Mum and dad looked at each other, silent words passing between them.
“Honey, let your dad and I talk about this, and we will get back to you. Ok?” mum said putting her arm around my shoulders.
“Ok” I said softly, they hadn’t said no, but they hadn’t said yes either. I wasn’t sure if I should be hopeful or not. Getting off the couch I made my way to the door.
“I forgot to add, please” I said before I left and shut the door behind me.
