Ok I mayyy have been living under a rock for a wee-while... and I may not be an avid gamer.. but I have been playing on and off since pretty much it's launch and tonight I had the scariest thing happen... METEOR?! This may not be a shock to anyone who has read about/played the game more than I have, but there were my sim-family settling down to their evening meal tonight when a little message pops up "So and so is worried it has turned dark outside".. Or something to that effect.. and then this weird shadow formed over the outside dining room table. After (stupidly) sending the whole family outside to mill around and investigate, they were then joined by a few passing neighbours and then... [glow=red,2,300]BLAM!! [/glow] Big bits of space rock cascaded down from the sky all over the garden destroying half the furniture and activities out there, followed by one GIANT lump landing right on the table which promptly caused the rest of the surrounding furniture to catch fire..! Cue many sim hours of mass flapping, some attempting to put the fire out, most catching fire themselves and finally the fire brigade arriving with a helpful message of 'We can't reach the fire I'm sure it will burn out on it's own'.. by that point it's 8am so everyone starts leaving charred and exhausted for their carpools! Leaving one lone sim to tidy up the mess... (Sports career!)It was a stressful but actually quite enjoyable experience as it's been a while since something has caught me out in a game I've played for so long... So has anyone else experienced this in their game? Or anything else that has caught you by surprise when you were in the midst of thinking you were a sim-expert?

wow! No I have never seen a meteor! Did you manage to grab any screenshots? I have logged so many hours playing the game and never had that happen. Makes me want to play to see if i can get it to happen too.

I have never seen a meteor in-game either. Sounds amazing! A bit scary but exciting. I can just imagine Simmies going crazy with panic hehe.
Makes me want to play too...as soon as I hear or see other people playing the game, it makes me want to play...

There was definitely mass sim-panic! One of the craziest and most difficult things I have had to deal with in-game before...! I had another first today as well, whilst one of my sims was visiting a community lot, a message box popped up in the form of dialog from another sim that was also on the lot saying something along the lines of "Ohh I feel so ill! I wish there was a doctor nearby!". I was like.. hmm..that's nice! About to click the cross and ignore when I realised my playable sim on the lot at that time was actually in the medical career (as an intern) at the time, so it must be referring to her..! Sure enough, I clicked on the sim whom the comment had came from and I got an action something along the lines of "offer medical treatment". I did this and my sim ran over + pulled out all sorts of medical tools in order to diagnose, including some obscure scanner...! It turned out the sim only had a mild case of nausea.. so after thanking my sim, she was allowed to return back to her date (!), let's hope he was impressed with her ability to cope in an emergency! Again.. I didn't take any screenshots... sorrryyy! Guess I'm just out of the habit! Been a while since I had myself a sim-story going on! Hehe. But hopefully if I keep getting spare time there'll be more of these new "incidents" for me and eventually I might be able to catch one on camera! You should definitely start up again Kate

Wow! That's really cool! I have not seen that either, although it's been a while since I had a sim in the medical field. I had started playing a bit more, but then i got totally back into Glitch and it's been eating up all my time now.

I am trying to balance my time neatly between the 2 at the minute! Hehe. But it's less than a week until I go back to work now...!

Glitch is great because the loading time is so fast. Also you can do quite a few things in game with just a few minutes. Unlike Sims (at least for me) when i play I have to be ready to play for at least an hour or more. It takes a long time for my game to start up, so when I play I need to make it worth while of the long loading time.

I know what you mean, at one point my game used to take over half an hour to load, so it was a case of decide I might want to play it sometime in the future, stick it on to start loading and then find something to do while I waited an age for it to actually start up..! I recently un-istalled it all though, wiped everything, re-installed and started all over again. It loads MUCH quicker now (less than 5 mins..!), I think having a lack of generations helps as I was mannyyyyy in! I think that's they way am gonna have to play it now.. and when it starts getting slow again, do the same again. Unless I want to spend a fortune I don't have on a new computer...!

You could just upgrade the memory of your computer. That's what I did, the game loads pretty quickly - actually BOTH games load quickly now. It's not that expensive, and I'm no tecchie, but I managed to install the new memory in about 10 minutes. Easy peasy. All you've got to do is find out what make/brand your computer is, type on Amazon and voila!! You'll get a list ... and the prices. Much cheaper sending away for it rather than go to the store I can tell you.

Hmmm... Might have to look into it...
Am running it on a laptop tho, which has probably seen better days now! Could really do with getting myself a proper pc.. Not sure if updating the memory on a laptop is the same...

Ah, that makes all the difference. You can't really take that apart to see what's inside. Unlike the tower of a PC. *sigh* at least I tried to help there.
